Bring brain-based voice training to your city

I travel to your studio, university, or theater to teach workshops, intensives, and masterclasses built around your singers and teachers, and they leave with drills they can feel working the same day.

Discover brain-based voice training in action

I’m Andrew Byrne, founder of The Singing Athlete and author of The Singing Athlete: Brain-Based Training for Your Voice. I’ve worked with singers across Broadway, opera, and international concert stages.

My methodology is rooted in applied neuroscience and athletic training principles, and it’s the framework behind every workshop I deliver. Every program is customized to your context, whether you’re hosting a single afternoon or a full three-day certification event.

Four program types

Choose the format that fits your group

Each one is customized to your context, from a single afternoon to a full three-day certification event.

Level One Certification class01

Certification track

Level One Certification

The only program that leads to official certification as a Singing Athlete practitioner, for voice teachers, singers, and coaches who want a brain-based framework in their work.

  • Three full days of structured, hands-on training
  • The complete Level One curriculum: neuroanatomy, assessment protocols, physical drills, and application in the studio
  • Access to the Drill Video Library, the Pre-Game Course, and Ask the Singing Athlete, an AI notebook for further study
  • Hosted independently or under the auspices of a university, conservatory, or professional development program
  • Graduates are listed in the practitioner directory
Singing Athlete Intensive class02

Experiential program

Singing Athlete Intensive

An immersive program for singers and educators who want a deep, performance-based exploration of the methodology, with an athletic focus both outdoors and indoors.

  • One to six days, adapted to your schedule and budget
  • Hosted anywhere in the world: concert halls, universities, retreat centers, or private studios
  • Daily masterclasses that apply brain and body concepts in real time
  • Ideal for performing artists who want a more experiential approach
  • Ends, ideally, in a capstone performance that I join

Customizable program

One or Two-Day Workshop

A topic-driven workshop built around what your singers and teachers need most. Your organization picks the topics, and I build the day.

  • Physical and vocal warmup both days, with participants dressed to move
  • Morning session: presentation with interactive demonstrations and group or partner exercises
  • Afternoon: applied masterclass
  • Q&A and wrap-up each day
  • Topics chosen from the menu below
Singing Athlete Masterclass04

Performance focus

Singing Athlete Masterclass

A three-to-four-hour masterclass with no slides and no presentation, just singing. I apply the methodology in real time in front of the group.

  • Typically 6–12 singers, coached individually with the group observing
  • Any voice type or repertoire genre
  • Each singer brings 60–90 seconds of a memorized piece they want to feel technically easier
  • Live piano, backing track, or a cappella all welcome
  • Best followed by a day of private lessons, the fullest preview of what a private session can do

The ideal model for shorter programs

Add a block of private lessons the next day

For masterclasses and one-day workshops, I strongly recommend scheduling a block of private lessons the day right after. Once singers feel the brain-based approach in a group, they almost always want individual time to apply it to their own voice.

Building lessons into the schedule from the start makes the most of my time in your city and gives your participants a complete experience.

One and two-day workshop topics

Choose what your singers need

Topics can be combined, ordered, and customized for your group’s experience level and interests. Not sure which to pick? Tell me about your singers or faculty and I’ll recommend a sequence.

FAQs

Your questions, answered

Can you come to our city or country?+

Yes. I travel internationally and I’m regularly available for programs in North America, Europe, Australia, Asia, and beyond. I’ve taught in New York, Nashville, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, the UK, and elsewhere. Reach out and we’ll work out scheduling and logistics.

What is the minimum number of participants?+

Minimums vary by program. Masterclasses and one-day workshops work well with as few as 8–10 participants, and the three-day Level One Certification typically needs 10–20 attendees to work well as a cohort. Tell me about your situation and we’ll find the right format.

What’s the difference between the Intensive and the Level One Certification?+

Level One Certification is a structured three-day curriculum that results in official credentials as a Singing Athlete practitioner, and it goes deep into the neurology of voice. The Intensive is flexible, experiential, and performance-based. It runs one to six days and focuses on exploring the methodology as a singer or artist.

Can we choose the topics for a one or two-day workshop?+

Yes. The format is designed for the hosting organization to customize. Choose from the topic list above and I’ll sequence and adapt them to your group’s level and context, and I’m happy to make recommendations based on your students’ or faculty’s needs.

Why do you recommend scheduling private lessons after a masterclass?+

Once singers experience the brain-based approach in a group, they almost always want a private session to apply it to their own voice. Scheduling private lessons the day after a masterclass makes the most of my time in your city, and it consistently produces the strongest outcomes for hosting organizations.

Do participants need movement or athletics experience?+

Not at all. “Singing Athlete” refers to the brain-based, athletic training approach to voice work, not to physical fitness requirements. Participants come dressed to move comfortably, and the physical components are accessible to everyone. The only prerequisite is curiosity.

How do I get a quote or check your availability?+

Use the inquiry form below. Share your organization’s name, the program you have in mind, your preferred dates and location, and a rough audience size. My team will reply within a few business days with availability and pricing.
